BETHANY AND LILLY COMPLETE WORK EXPERIENCE AT CLIP 'N CLIMB CAMBRIDGE

This Summer, Clip 'n Climb Cambridge gave two students from local Schools the opportunity to complete their work experience with us. Both students, Bethany and Lilly, were each offered a one-week placement to experience the world of leisure and entertainment.

During Lily and Bethany's exit interviews, we asked them a few questions about their time with us.

Bethany said:

Why did you apply for work experience with us?

I’ve been climbing from a very young age and have always loved coming to Clip 'n Climb... I knew I probably wanted to work here when I grew up, so when I heard they were offering work experience, I had to apply...

What’s your favourite wall?

Orbital because I love its bright colour scheme and the spinning mechanic. It’s one of the harder walls so you feel a sense of accomplishment when you get to the top. I also like Dry Ice because it’s fun to climb with the picks...

What is the thing that you have liked the most about your time with us?

Helping little kids clip onto the walls and getting to climb the walls to clean them. I liked pretty much everything about this job and I would love to keep working here... The staff are all so kind and encouraging, it’s been great working with them.

Do you think any of your skills have developed?

Communication and talking to people... The staff are so friendly and easy to talk to, I’ve had to explain things to customers and I think I’m better at that now. Also I’d like to think my climbing skills have improved...

Lilly said:

Why did you apply for work experience with us?

I have been to Clip ‘n Climb multiple times and when I heard about a spot being available I was interested to apply.

What’s your favourite wall?

My favourite wall is Dry Ice. I like how the pegs are used to climb it. I think it’s a slightly more immersive experience... and it’s a slight challenge without making it too difficult. Another I also like is Tree Trunk. Even though it is one of the easiest ones, when I was younger, I would always climb trees outside my house...

What is the thing that you have liked the most about your time with us?

I can’t fault a single person here... every member of staff has been incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful, ensuring I have fun. When I was wall cleaning, I felt secure and comfortable... I was taught new skills like how to use the massive coffee machine and how to run the extremes... I enjoyed helping children/participants each day.

Do you think any of your skills have developed?

I think my communication has developed, especially from meeting new employees and new children each day... My climbing skills have for sure improved... Even though I have been to Clip ‘n Climb multiple times, I still always had a tiny fear of heights but now I can climb to the top of a wall with no fear.

Our team were pleased to provide placements to students for the 9th year. We feel both students adapted exceptionally well into a busy leisure scene and took our company values onboard throughout their experience.
