HAF PROGRAMME: CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY FUN

This Christmas, Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge welcomed over 300 climbers as part of the Holidays and Food (HAF) programme, funded through Cambridgeshire County Council.  

The HAF programme is a UK government initiative providing free, enriching holiday activities, health meals, and snacks for children from low-income families (eligible for free school meals) during the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays.  It aims to improve children’s well-being, health and learning through fun, sports, arts and nutrition education. Run by local council and partners, it offers a safe space for kids to develop skills, make friends and stay active during school holidays.

Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge has been working with Cambridgeshire County Council for the last few years, offering climbing in their general and SEND-specific sessions.

Climbing at Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge is an inclusive and encouraging activity, perfect for school-aged children. From walls like Amazing and Speed Climb, to thrill-seeking extreme challenges like the Stairway to Heaven and Vertical Drop slide, Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge provides something for everyone.

Our SEND-specific climbing sessions are exclusive to our SEND climbers. We have less climbers on the arena, and welcome parents and carers to help where needed. We turn off our music, so try and create a fun, but quieter environment. We also run public SEND and Autism-friendly sessions, and have been supported by SEND charity, SPECTRUM, to create an appropriate environment within the centre.

We look forward to being part of the HAF programme in Cambridge in the future, and welcoming more climbers to Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge.
